Busy Season!

Every season is our busy season at the studio, but right now we have been having fun with our 2012 Seniors and Wedding Clients.

Senior season is in full swing! We have been busy shooting at our studio and on location! We have been spending a lot of our time at Dillon Nature Center, in downtown Hutchinson, Kansas and at the train station! So far we have had some great kids! Looks like the Senior class of 2012 is going to be a great bunch of kids to work with! We have a ton of new ideas and new backgrounds, just waiting for the right person. We have also been extremely busy with weddings! We don't see a lot of Saturdays off, but that is fine with us, we have so much fun shooting weddings together.

Life is great! We are looking forward to a busy summer!

It was great to meet everyone at the HCC Visual Communications Advisory Board Meeting. It's fantastic to see that HCC is really helping students be current and informed about todays vast visual communications market. We look forward to helping in any way we can.

Spring is near!!!

Here at Charles Wheeler Photography, we have been working hard all winter to come up with some fun new ideas for this spring! We have a spring "Kid's Day" on the works sometime before Easter! We will be posting more information on that soon. We have added a ton of new backgrounds and products for all our beautiful babies! We hope the this season ahead will bring us lots of fun photo shoots! The Dillon Nature Center and the Old Train Station are calling our names! We can't wait to get back outside. We have a ton of new ideas for our 2012 Seniors and are looking forward to meeting a bunch of new faces in the months to come!

Wake The Dead III

We will be photographing the Wake The Dead III Rock & Metal Festival on Oct 9th 2010. The festival will take place at the Kansas State Fair Grounds and should be a lot of fun. The event is an opportunity for up & coming bands from Kansas to perform in a large venue and display thier talents. Still trying to figure out how a 2 year old camera is considered old? I guess after 350,000 shots it's time for a new model. Well, the new Camera gear should arrive today. SURE hope it's worth the $5K. Maybe Erin just wanted my old one. She is getting so good that she deserve it. We now have a back up for the backup for the backup. Now if I could just get a backup for Erin. Don't know what I would do without her.

We are getting very close to having know senior sessions open for at least the next 60 days. If you would like a session call soon. There aren't any openings before school starts and all Saturdays are full until after the first of the year.

We would like to thank Senator Tim Huelskamp and his staff (Brian) for giving us the opportunity to photograph and meet Governor Mike Huckabee. We have not followed politics much lately (work about 15 hours a day) but this may be the jump start we needed. What a gracious and humble set of men.

Just wrapping up the first of two weddings this weekend. I would like to thank Erin for handling the Cosmosphere situation with such class and professionalism. I am very lucky to have her. Oh and it's really cool she got to meet someone who has walked on the moon. I am jealous!

We have been shooting for a long time (over 20 years) and I just have to say "WHAT is THAT?" Every great once in awhile I get the chance to just surf around the web and look at other photographers images. Either I am getting to picky or "professional photographers" are getting strange and lazy. Just because an art director for a publication picks an image, does not mean it's a good image and the style should be copied. Every Editor /Art Director I have ever worked with has picked BAD images. We are shocked how the so called photo-journalism craze has taken off. With our images even the photo-journalism must be perfect and finished. With others it seems a way to be lazy.

Sometimes my job is just cool! I would like to thank the Kansas Cosmosphere and Shuttle Astronaut Stephen Bowen for letting us document his resent tour of the Cosmosphere. My daughter (6) loves the autograph. Everyone should check out the NEW traveling NASA Johnson Space Center exhibit, Driven to Explore. It's free and VERY cool.
